DAFTAR GmbH is an interdisciplinary studio for design, architecture, and art with its own in-house production, based in Berlin.

Initiated by Ayscha Zarina Omar and Simon Ertl, who each bring distinct design backgrounds to the practice, DAFTAR works with a team of specialists from various fields at the intersection of conceptual development, design, and fabrication.

Our design practice moves between established furniture typologies and conceptual, representative objects. Through precise interventions in form, material, and function, we create works with a unique character—positioned between utility and expression.

Shaped by both conceptual rigor and craftsmanship, we view design and production as an interconnected process. Contemporary manufacturing methods are not only applied but critically examined and further developed; digital and analogue, industrial and artisanal techniques serve as equal tools within our design approach.

From the initial idea to realisation—within our own production facilities and in collaboration with partners—we guide projects with a focus on materiality, process, and formal clarity.
